Frankie joins a neighborhood book club with the best of intentions, but when life gets in the way, she ropes her son, Brick, into reading the selections and summarizing them for her. Before long, she’s bringing him along to meetings, confidently presenting his insights as her own.
But when Brick slips her deliberately false interpretations as a quiet act of rebellion, the club quickly realizes she’s been bluffing all along. Asked to leave in embarrassment, Frankie is forced to face the consequences; while Brick, whose genuine passion and sharp perspective have won everyone over, is invited to join in his own right. For the first time, he finds not just a seat at the table, but a circle of friends who truly see him.
